BPAL Reviews

New Orleans - Reminiscent of hothouse blooms on a humid night, ripe, but touched with decay. Sweet honeysuckle and jasmine with a hint of lemon and spice. This is a nice scent - it's quite pretty with the florals and a tiny hint of spice, but on my skin it isn't anything special. Will need to find a loving home for this one.

Inferno - The Dark Side of Fire: cinnamon, bitter almond, and neroli. Heavily spiced, torrid, and possibly conflagrant. Oh, yum. This is fantastic spice with a touch of deepness to it. I love cinnamon and this has that red hot bite to it. Love this! My skin is tingling at the five minute mark, though, so we'll have to see if the cinnamon is too strong in this blend, OR I'll have to wait longer after showering before trying it again. Because the scent itself is gorgeous.

Carnal - Bold, bright mandarin paired with the sweet, sensual earthiness of fig. Oooh! This is so pretty. I was thinking oranges for mandarin, but perhaps it's something else as I don't get citrus. I do get a beautiful floral with a good solid base. Mmm, fig. It (fig) sure smells a lot more heavenly than it tastes. *G* This was actually a frimp and I'm so happy to have tried this one! Beautiful.

Regan: A deceptively sweet orchid vanille with a faint trace of stephanotis. Hmm, this is very light and pretty. I will have to research stephanotis to see why this is deceptive. *G* This actually reminds me of Alice, which I prefer on me much more.

Baghdad: Amber, saffron and bergamot with mandarin, nutmeg, Bulgar rose, musk and sandalwood. Very sweet! Not as spicy as I'd hoped, but on second look I guess the nutmeg and saffron are the only spices involved. hehe. This is fading almost instantly on me, though. :(

Pannychis: In later ages, it became the name of the all-night festival that closed the Eleusinian Mysteries. Night-blooming jasmine, moonflower, cardamom, sandalwood, black currant, ylang ylang, frankincense and lily. Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous. I'm thinking that the night-blooming jasmine and frankincense are the strongest scents but that's just because it's such a strong floral that isn't too sweet either. Mmm. Beautiful. I had to look up night-blooming jasmine as it was a recent note that I'd seen (Midnight on the Midway), but was surprised to see that it is also in Ave Maria Gratia Plena and Highwayman as well! Surprised because I actually love those two and didn't remember it as a component. *G* This is definitely my favorite sample of the three I tried this day.
