outlaws

Been watching Twitch a lot lately - when my sister started watching, we watched some gamer streams. We then discovered the music streamers, so for the last year I've been getting my music fix that way mostly. lol.

Lately sister has been watching Red Dead Redemption 2 online streamers on a special server, and it is addictive, but confusing because you can't keep up with all the storylines. lol. But anyway, I've started playing RDR2 again on console. Was playing Horizon Zero Dawn last month, but I'm kind of in a rut with it and not enjoying as much so I'll give it a break. I need to NOT start it up again at 10 at night, though! lol.

The thing I love about both games is that they have interesting characters, and incredibly gorgeous scenery.

comments

Many years ago, maybe it would have been helpful. But lately not at all. I wish that I had more of an aptitude for journaling, especially in a super interesting way. But so far that has not been a good skill of mine! My favorite journaler on LJ used to be muse, but I don't know if her journal is even up any more. but she had a great way of relaying her stories, as well as including a ton of links to explain areas or thoughts, etc. I just was really in love with her style, but not good at emulating it. lol.

We'll see if this one cross posts to LJ correctly. I had to change my PW due to the reporting of a breach over there so the earlier ones from today did not work.

comments

How many baby animals or kawaii drawings does it take for you to melt into a puddle of fluff?

My answer:

Super easily swayed, honestly. I like cuteness, prettiness, glitter and so on! Baby animals are simply adorable! While I'm a definite fan for realism and grittiness at times, sometimes you just need the super cute stuff to counteract all the chaos that is in life.

comments

Cats and Dogs and Hamsters Oh My!

How about a bird person or a reptile person? A fish person? Why?

My answer:

Definitely an animal person, lol. As far as pets go, I do have a stronger preference for dogs. My family has always had dogs for companions. I miss my heart-dogs - Nate from many years ago and Stormy from earlier this year. So while I say my favorite is the dog, at the same time, I can't imagine life without a kitty. So it works out to live with family who have a kitty. ;)

Absolutely love horses! Life circumstances have changed so we are without any live horses, so I am enjoying my herd of model horses instead. I get to have ALL the colors and all the breeds, no feed needed, and zero poop pick up, so it's not all bad. ;D

So many wild animals that I love. My long standing favorite is the wolf. My new interest is the hyena. I am intrigued by the capybera. Love the big cats! The Crocodile Hunter changed my mind and I find them interesting now - from a distance, anyway. lol.

comments

Are you good at keeping your new year's resolutions, or are they gone with the wind within the first week of january?

My answer:

I didn't actually make any resolutions this year. Mostly because they're usually gone within the first week or two anyway. LOL. I will work on some goals for the year, though, soon. Will try to work out some baby steps and turtle steps towards those goals as well. Didn't do that well on last year's big photography goal, so hope to be able to make some inroads on that goal this year. Just need to get a bit of an outline on how to do that better this year.

comments

Freezer meals

It is supposed to be 100 degrees F today, so I am hibernating in the house. lol. No cooking going to happen, but there are a couple of recipes that look really good and then a whole page dedicated to meals you can just throw in the freezer for the future. Absolutely awesome.

This one is marinades for chicken: throw the frozen chicken pieces in the marinade and freeze, and then they're automatically marinating when they're defrosting! Brilliant. lol.
http://angelaskitchen.com/2006/08/14/chicken-freezer-plan/

Sounds delicious!
http://angelaskitchen.com/2012/07/24/gluten-free-dairy-free-korean-shredded-beef-tacos-for-the-slow-cooker/

http://angelaskitchen.com/recipes-for-the-freezer/

comments

Slow Cooker

We've not been very good about using our slow cooker on a regular basis. One tip that I just learned about is to put your veggies on top of the roast! That way it won't soak up all the grease and it should be amazing and steamed. Going to have to try that next time for sure.

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

This site was also recommended, so I'm going to have to check it out. The person recommending it said that it's a gluten-free site as well, FYI. :o)

comments

Joy the Baker

I have discovered a lovely new cooking blog that is extremely interesting. Had seen a link for her upcoming cookbook last week, and then this morning stumbled upon her actual blog. Obviously, it was meant to be!! LOL. (She posts about more than the sweet stuff, but that's what caught my eye this morning. fyi.)

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/09/lemon-meringue-pie-milkshakes/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/10/midnight-black-chocolate-pudding/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/11/brown-sugar-bacon-biscuits/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/05/chocolate-peanut-butter-cookie-dough-toasted-marshmallow-cupcakes/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/05/spinach-and-potato-breakfast-hash/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/05/gluten-free-toasted-coconut-waffles-with-maple-cream/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/05/mustard-roasted-new-potatoes/

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2011/04/chicken-pot-pie-with-cream-cheese-and-chive-biscuits/

comments

Still alive and kickin', but just haven't been on here for a bit. Haven't been able to be online much at all this last week except for the bare minimum. Darn GB limit. lol.

Anyway, nothing much to report. :o)

comments

Kitty story

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5933325/Pet-cat-catches-the-daily-bus-for-four-years.html

That's pretty cool! Amazing that the kitty started it at first, and then even cooler than the company made sure to help him as he got older.

comments

Eastern Oregon trip

Wow! A vacation sure does a body good! ^__^

Part of the family went on a trip to Eastern Oregon this week - my grandfather has been talking about the round barn that was built over 100 years ago, and how interesting it was that this rancher had decided to build a round barn for breaking in his draft horses and such. So we finally got organized and went to see it! With the added bonus of seeing part of the Malheur Wildlife preserve and possibly the Steens Mountains (home of the Kiger Mustangs, you know!).

( many rambles )

comments

girl come undone

Started looking around Dreamhorse again - not a lot of options, and most of the interesting ones are already sold. Then the ones that sound intriguing are either a bit too "need experienced rider" or are things like a $400 friesian...what the heck is wrong with him, then? :o) So not much happening on the horse front. Which is alright, since I'm able to ride Copper while we still have Tuffy.

Woke up this morning with the heel of my left hand really hurting - not tingly like it fell asleep, but hurt to touch. After a while it went away, but I'm getting weird little twinges up and down that arm every once in a while. Something to watch out for, but I think I probably just slept badly on it or something. Felt sick enough to my stomach to take a pepto-bismal tablet and thought that took care of it, so I went to work, but only lasted 2 hours. Gah. Haven't actually been sick, thank God, but not feeling all that great either. The nap helped tremendously!

Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be better than Friday. :o)

comments
