BPAL

I'm not very good with reviews, but I will start sharing my thoughts on my new BPAL oils. Friday's mail made me VERY happy as it contained my Lab order and two swaps. Of course, haven't been home to actually test any of them until last night!

Viola - Gentle tea rose, lilac, Calla Lily, and Somalian Rose layered over golden Peruvian amber, Spanish moss, red sandalwood, rosewood, and myrrh, with the lightest touch of Mandarin. Mmmm, very pretty scent! I really can't pick out any of the listed scents as such, but it ends up being a very pretty and light floral with a hint of deepness to it. This was a lab frimp and not one I plan on buying again any time soon, but it is a lovely hot summer day scent. Will keep this one for days like today!

Dragon's Tears - Bittersweet yet powerful: salty aquatic notes and bursting with dragon's blood. This was one of my big Lab purchases, as I've actually had this in an imp before. Had to buy a 5 ml bottle from the lab because this scent is just that fabulous. The first time I tried it I thought it was nice, and the second time it was just divine. Which is why it's so hard to just test BPAL oils just once. I love the touch of aquatic notes in this scent.

Dragon's Claw - Smooth, polished and lethally sharp: dragon’s blood resin and three sandalwoods. One of the imps I purchased, as I absolutely must try all the dragon scents. haha. When I first put this one on, I thought it was a really pretty scent but far too light. However, after about 20 minutes it warmed up and was a little stronger. When I woke up at 3 am this morning, it was still smelling yummy!! Which means it lasted six hours and I'll be keeping the imp. May not buy more, but we'll see how the rest of the imp goes.

Dragon's Reverie - Opium-laced dreams of flame, plunder, power and fury: dragon’s blood resin, poppy, amber and ylang ylang. Another one for the imp pack. This is another beautiful scent that isn't super strong and doesn't last super long. However, it is better one me than some of the Dragon scents that I've actually swapped out so I'll keep it but it's not likely I'll get it again. May have to try it as a room scent, as it really is a pretty scent. (Scents like this is why I think my sniffer is shot, likely from a combination of growing up in a household that smoked and allergies. The description talks about flame, power & fury and I smell things like beautiful, pretty and flowery. Wrath is like that for me, too.)

Athens - A reformulation and modernization of a true Classical Greek perfume, myrrhine: voluptuous myrrh, golden honey, red wine, and sweet flowers. Lab frimp. Despite the myrrh and honey, this one is not for me. Almost all of the wine scents go icky on me - the alcohol scents amp up until that's all you get. Too bad, I can see where it'd be a pretty scent on someone else.

Aunt Caroline'S Joy Mojo - Bottled happiness. Helps reverse misfortune, brings light and laughter to even the most troubled and discordant place, and aids in alleviating the stress and discontent that accompanies so many of life's daily trials. From the imp pack. I'd been seeing a LOT of positive reviews for this scent, plus who doesn't want bottled happiness?! They didn't list actual scents so I have no clue what's in it, but what I get out of it is pure citrusy-tinged sunshine. Beautiful!! It's lasted two hours so far and is still soft, sweet & happy. I may eventually get a bottle of this, because otherwise I'll have to make sure I always have an imp of this on hand. :o)

The Caterpillar - Heavy incense notes waft lazily through a mix of carnation, jasmine, bergamot, and neroli over a lush bed of dark mosses, iris blossom, deep patchouli and indolent vetiver. Another imp pack. My goal is to eventually try all of the Mad Hatter scents, even though my first ones didn't last long at all. I'm starting to have better luck with them now - Alice, The Red Queen, and Mouse's Long and Sad Tale are all fabulous. Anyway, when I first put on the Caterpillar I liked it, but it didn't seem like it was going to work for me. So sad, because I love so many of the scents in this one. However, over the next hour it warmed up a bit and became even more intriguing. I'm going to have to keep this imp and keep trying it out.

Oh, hey. That's all the ones I've tried so far. This was actually kind of fun! Have more room to ramble than I do on my spreadsheet, too. *G*
