Got up normal time this morning, all motivated to go hiking with the dogs. Started out great--was misting a little, but it was actually nice. Especially now that I've started wearing my soundgarden cap, the rain doesn't run in my eyes like before. lol. Get about 20 minutes into it (so, it's just before 7 am) and a damn yellowjacket just stings the hell out of my left hand! Right at the base of my pointer finger. I knocked it off and scraped the stinger off, decided it didn't actually hurt so then continued on...swore I heard more bees buzzing around me so we ended up jogging up the damn hill. I thought I was going to die. lol...couldn't breathe at all.

So, make it to the gravelled trail and hear no more bees. Caught my breath and then we went on as usual--spotted some bunnies! Not much else to see except some fog and drizzle. Went to the quarry and managed to slip on the wet trail and land on a bit of rock...scraped up a knee, but thankfully it was totally superficial and just bled a bit, didn't really hurt for more than a minute. O.o I'm thinking at this point that maybe this wasn't such a wonderful day to go hiking, but still, all in all things aren't bad.

So, turn around and head back towards home. Everything's fine until we are about ten minutes from home, right near the old barn on the neighbor's place--get stung by another damn bee!!! Right between the shoulder blades underneath my backpack. Ended up running down the trail and trying to scrape it off with my hat, and when that didn't work I took off my shirt (thank god for sports bras!) and scraped that little bastard off and scrunched him up. Yellowjackets are EVIL. I'm not fond of any of the bees, but at least the rest of them don't hunt you up and sting you a lot.

Made it the rest of the way home without incident. My hand is a bit swollen and tight, even after the baking soda soak, but it's not too terrible. I hate bees. And it's only July. *sigh*

Anyway, off to enjoy the rest of the day. It almost has to go better than the morning started out! ^__^

Dear Mom and Dad,

Our scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw
the flood on TV and are worried. We are OK. Only one of our
tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us
got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for
Chad when it happened.

The rest of the letter )

Today.

Today was a very good day, after the morning anyway. lol. Need to sweep/vacuum the kitchen and living room, but they're looking pretty darn good otherwise. Need to work on the corner between the bar and the fireplace/couch tomorrow. Also hoping to see Reign of Fire tomorrow, but Mom is going to watch Michael for Heather now, so I'm not sure that the timing will work out. We'll see. So, after that, just the bedrooms are left. O.o Not really looking forward to working on it, but I know I'll love it when it's done. So, it'll definitely be worth it.

Mom and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond tonight, to take advantage of the coupon Grandma found for us. Turns out that she thought it was expiring today, but in reality that's the day it was to be delivered. LOL. Oh well, we had fun anyway. Got the George Foreman Colored Grill (the one with the top to warm up the buns as you cook), in the blue-green color. Looks sharp! And now I can take my little one over to Heather's and actually eat some real food over there. lol. Also, got a pillow for me, and a few other things for the house. Was fun. Then we ate dinner at BJ's (OMG, excellent chicken and brocolli stuffed potatoes!), and then go groceries. So...it's still Friday night and we have all of that out of the way! YAHOOO! It's a good sign. :o)
