It's been quite the week. Due to Michael's need for routine, we met for our Tuesday walk on the day that it reached 101. OMG. But we had lots of water and stuck to the shade as much as possible, so it was pretty decent all in all.
Wednesday I went out to the ranch and helped Mom clear out the porch - also, it appears that we'll be able to keep it for storage when my mom and sister get stuff packed up. That's a huge bonus. But it was a pretty big project - we started early and finished at 1 in the afternoon, though I suppose we're not technically finished since we'll be making the garbage run this weekend. The horse trailer is full of bees nests!! Yikes. Then Papa came home saying he was going to get some loads of hay. So Mom and I flew into town to grab a burger to eat on the way back, then helped Papa unload one truck load. Thankfully my sister came home in time to help with the second load. While we were waiting the cattle came into the arena and were very social, though my dog was NOT impressed that they were bugging him. LOL.
Today at work we had our annual 'barbeque', though this year there was no barbeque. Annual lunch, I guess. Anyway, Nachos came out and catered the food part so we had chicken soft tacos and then some chips with ground beef and salsa. YUM. Also, ice cream. Mmmm. Today was pretty hot but it turned out really nice anyway. I helped set up, stood around visiting for a couple hours, and then helped take everything down. So between today and yesterday, everything hurts!
Anyway, despite the craziness of this week, I did manage to read. I finished Death Note 5 and 6, Black Cat 9, and The Mermaid Chair. Absolutely lovely book. It's written by Sue Monk Kidd, who also wrote The Secret Life of Bees. It's haunting and mesmerizing. Whereas Bees was more a teenage whirlwind, this is more of a mid-life crisis type of book, but written so wonderfully and realistically that you just are immersed in the story. I highly recommend her books. ^___^
