state fair
Aug. 12th, 2007 03:56 pmThings were good today. Went over to the Scandanavian Festival right before we left to go to Salem to drop off Heather's calligraphy project. The aebelskiever booth was far too busy, and the swedish pancake booth was just as bad. So we got a turkey & swiss croissant sandwich instead and it was amazing. Mmm, mmm.
No problems on the drive up to Salem. Weird to see the Fairgrounds so empty!! She's joining the Jury class, so hopefully both of her works will be entered into the State Fair. They're both gorgeous, so I think they should be picked. We'll see though, as I am definitely biased. ;D I'll share pictures when we get them back - I love the horse calligram piece.
Then we had some time to kill so we went to the Capital building - wow, it was gorgeous! Haven't seen it before in person. Gorgeous and marble. Lots of statue work, too. We saw some squirrels, of course, and one of them made us laugh. It started running away, and then Heather said "hey squirrel! Come back!" - and it turned around and came back for a step or two. LOL. Too cute! Then it ran off. I have a suspicion that people feed the squirrels around there. *G*
