Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the few people who still has dialup. I know I'm not, but when practically every post at the icon communities is 60+ and they include three different fandoms at minimum it's royally annoying. I would like to see your potentially fabulous 20 lost icons BUT I don't want to have to wait for the 30 House and 20 blahblah and 20 blahblah2 in order to finally SEE them. Why can't people just post one fandom at a time? Or at least limit it to two semi-related ones? AND WHY OH WHY do y'all insist on posting to your zillion comments as well? I absolutely adore the artists who link to the reply page. It helps make the icons load SO much more easily.

*sigh*

I'm so glad I finally have a whole lot of icons that I really like. Then I only have to subject myself to this torture once a month or so just for the new obsessions. lol.

I know what you mean about the long loading times. Blah. So Hate Dial-Up!

I actually like seeing the comments though. It's interesting to see what others like.

Sometimes, they take too long to load on cable too. And my cable is fast!! It all depends on their image hosting service.

Also, it sucks for me because sometimes depending on their layout, the pictures get scattered weird and sometimes even overlap! It sucks to be 5% of the market! I think LJ really freaks out when it has to do that much work though.

I enjoy reading other people's comments, too. For both icons and fics and such. But with the large icon posts, I would rather see the posted icons and then once they've loaded and I've commented, then read what everyone else says. Because otherwise you have to wait for the posted 60 icons to load plus the 30 commenter's icons to load. And for some reason LJ tends to load 1/3 of the icons and then the commenters icons and then the rest of the posted ones, and it's just so SLOW.

I guess I just want to be the one to make the decision if I want to read them or not. Because with the new LJ posting thing, you can't just click "post comment" and avoid all the comments unless you're in a S2 journal. And sometimes I just don't want to spend the time at it, but other time I do enjoy it. Y'know? :o)

Really? That's good to know that sometimes it takes ages on cable too. Don't feel quite so left out that way. *G*

Ahhh. Yeah, that would be irritating. Especially the overlapping, because you just KNOW it'll be the ones you like that you can't see well.

That is true. Guess I just avoid those huuuuuuuge posts unless it is someone's work I really like. And then it is so totally worth the time. Heh.

What new LJ posting thing?

It helps that you have lovely icon makers who consistently play in your fandom. ;D

It took me a bit to come up with a post with a few comments but won't take time to load. http://community.livejournal.com/soupfaerie/2411669.html

Click on the "post comment" thing and you'll see how LJ works now with the box instead of a page refresh - basically any non-paid account, I guess. Because when you pay you get the option to force your journal on the comment page, y'know? :o)

Do you not qualify for DSL where you live?

When I lived out in the country it wasn't even an offered option. Now that I'm in the city it's an option, but not overly affordable. Though, I haven't priced them for a year or so. Perhaps I'll recheck and see if they're any lower. :\

Well, if you have Verizon in your area, they offer DSL at the same price as dial-up. $14.99 a month.
