More yummy goodness arrived in the mail today, plus some pretty empty blue bottles for the ones I have multiple imps of but no one appears to be selling partial bottles of...now to find interesting clip art or the like for pretty labels.
Queen Mab - Warrior, Trickster and Goddess of Magic and Poets, she is one of the Tuatha De Danaan and the Queen of the Faeries. A very complex scent, both shadowy and fierce: black orchid, sandalwood, night-blooming jasmine, osmanthus, Somalian rose, and Chinese musk. See, sometimes I think I register things wrong. This is another that's "fierce" and yet what I get out of it is something that's very pretty & flowery with a hint of deepness/darkness to it. At the moment it's pure rose, but I'm sure that'll change again. We'll see how it is in a bit, but not looking like a keeper at this point.
Gaueko - The Basque God of Night and all the perils of the darkness. Blackened sandalwood and misty lavender, with curling wisps of smoky tobacco, nag champa, and labdanum. This is absolutely lovely. Sandalwood mixed with lavender, tobacco and the others is a fabulous scent. It went on fairly softly so I was afraid it wouldn't last very long; however, we're coming up on four hours now and it's still fairly soft yet beautiful. Mmmm.
Amsterdam - Tulips, peony, fresh flowing water and crisp green grasses. Sounds absolutely gorgeous, but on me it is SO very light. I get wisps of prettiness, but that's it. Too bad.
Aeval - A raven-haired Fairy Queen of Ireland. One of her eternal duties dictates that she must hold a midnight court every season and hear the pleas of married Irishwomen. The court serves only to determine whether or not husbands are adequately serving their wife’s sexual needs. A judicious yet powerfully sensual blend, a mingling of justice and sexuality: sage, sweet pea, bold pale musk and warm tonka. Mmmm, another beautiful one. It's kind of weird actually trying out floral ones, but so far I'm finding some really pretty ones. The sweet pea and sage is a gorgeous combination--at least, I think those are the dominant scents that I'm getting. Mmmm.
Alecto - Unceasing In Anger: Olive leaf, raspberry leaf, vetiver and cedarwood. This was actually interesting...I would say that I liked it, but not really as a perfume oil. Can't really imagine using it as a room scent either. So, off to the swap pile for this one. :o)
Grand Guignol - In 1897, a new form of entertainment was presented to the people of Montmartre, Paris: the Théâtre du Grand Guignol. <> Our Grand Guignol perfume is a shot of sweet apricot brandy; just enough to settle your nerves after a ghoulish, gory brush with the macabre. First reaction: Argh, alcohol! After it warmed up for a few minutes, though, it did turn into the prettiest alcohol related scent yet...sweet apricot helped tremendously. Still, not one I want to wear again and off it goes.
Kumiho - Nine-tailed fox demon of Korean lore who transforms into the visage of an irresistible beauty in order to seduce men and lead them to their doom. A sharp, biting blend of crisp white tea and ginger. Ooooh, nice!! This is an absolute perfect mix of ginger and tea. It didn't last real long (about an hour or so), but it's so very pretty and it's related to Naruto (he containing a nine-tailed fox demon in his own body) so I'll be keeping it anyway. It's kind of like Alice in that way...short lived but worth it.
Sloth - Thick, dark, sluggish and heavy with indolence: vetiver over black myrrh. I've had several imps of this one and LOVE it. It's similar to Voodoo for me in the heavy & fascinating area, but this one is perhaps just heavier and less complex than Voodoo due to only having the two main scents. Still, it's long lasting and it makes me happy when I wear it. I ended up finding a partial bottle of it for sale so now I don't have to ration it quite so much. Yay!!!
Highwayman -Stand and deliver! Vetiver with gardenia, blood red rose, night-blooming jasmine, a dash of cinnamon and a faint hint of leather. This is one of the very first oils that I fell in love with (along with Gluttony) and still love. For some reason the leather in this is really amped up on me, so in combination with the vetiver and all it is absolutely divine. I am discovering that some of my favorites are rather "heavy" though, and not necessarily the best summer scents. So, I'm trying to find alternatives for a few months. XD
Dragon's Hide - Flame-kissed, warm, smooth, and highly protective. Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke. AGAIN with the leather and smoke. This is a wonderful blend. It's rather subtle, but lasts well. This does make me think of what it would be like to hug a dragon after it's been roaming around in the sunshine and gotten all warm, then curled up so the smoke wafted along the hide. Cozy. If said dragon was your friend. *G*
