You'll have to ask lafemmezilla for the real definition, but I understood the gist of it to be that typeface is for computers/typewriters and fonts for handwritten stuff. Though everyone always says font and it drives her crazy. ^__^

Is it still big? It's size 3 right now, but I started out with 11 since that's how it goes on our computer/emails. But on a webpage, the smaller number is better.

Yeah. I meant for it to be purple, but when I changed the type face it must have changed it to black at that point. Does it force it to be black on your journal too, then? :\

M— A font consists of a set of glyphs (images) representing the characters from a particular character set in a particular typeface. In professional typography the term typeface is not interchangeable with the word font, which is defined as a given alphabet and its associated characters in a single point size. For example, 8-point Caslon is one font, and 10-point Caslon is another. Historically, fonts came in specific sizes determining the size of characters, and in quantities of sorts or number of each letter provided. This would be quite evident when looking at a very small font compared to a very large one. There's a good example in my Adobe catalog at work which I can try to remember to scan for you. I think it's interesting! But then again, I'm a pro type nerd. As you can see at the link, the computer has made the terms interchangeable. Even in the industry; I do it all the time too because I'm lazy.

I have always wondered how people so easily changed their font colors and sizes and stuff on each entry! If I may suggest though, a lot of people use the "style-mine" viewing feature, not to mention everyone has their own preferences for fonts which are just easier for them to read for whatever reason. I suppose if you're the only person on my list using that scriptyfontthing I can make an exception ;) but the best way to go about it is to get into the custom code so that your style is the font and colors you want it to be, not tweaked on each entry. This is easier or harder depending on S1 or S2 and what style you use as a base. That way though, you can see all your entries and your friends' entries in a way that's pleasing to your eye, and your friends are still viewing everything according to their own preferences. (Oh and most importantly, I wouldn't adjust anything when posting to a community, especially a large one.)

Aha. Thanks so much for the information! That was a very neat article. I misunderstood what you were meaning before, and this clarifies it very well.

I'd love to see it when you have the time/energy for scanning it. Stuff like that is fascinating, plus it's really very nice to have the visual on top of the text. *g*

Yeah, I don't know all the coding for that stuff by heart either. I just got the Semagic client, so I'm sure I'll stop going crazy with the font choices here in a wee bit. Though I found that copying & pasting from email brings that into the journal, which is kind of cool but kind of annoying if you want it to go to default. I guess I can just go straight to the web instead of through Semagic for those, though.

I cannot seem to figure out how to change the font in the styles. I'm technologically impaired sometimes! I'm on S2, but the Expressive styles really are kind of limited in stuff like font choices and color choices. Which is kind of funny, considering it's all "Expressive" and everything. ;D And even my last layouts before that, they'd give you a few choices but I couldn't ever make anything seem to change.

Thanks for the reminder about the communities! I'll chill out on the fonts regardless anyway soon.
