Stayed up to watch Joan of Arc last night...wish they'd have said it was a two-parter. Pretty interesting, actually, and Lelei (sp?) is a neat actress. They had such gorgeous horses in it as well. Will have to watch the second half on Wed, or at least tape it.
Woke up this morning confused as to whether it was the right time or an hour late, but thankfully, it was the right time. Nothing like running around frantically to start off a Monday, so I'm glad that didn't have to happen. *G*
Went hiking on a fairly spur of the moment thing yesterday afternoon....decided it was too hot to bother with the camera and I had just taken it last week anyway.....dumb idea! LOL. I'll be taking it with me from now on, even if I only take two or three pictures it'll be worth it. Saw the neatest little lizards on the way back...they were basically the size of a salamander, but more squat, and they had these triangular scales and were tri-colored in pattern....very interesting! They froze above their little dens and just let me watch them for a couple of minutes. And then later a vulture flew *right* overhead....felt like only 10 feet or so! lol. And then down near the barn a woodpecker flew right at me and then past up the hill...*sigh* Probably wouldn't have gotten that one on film, but still! It's the whole idea of missing some good shots. LOL.
*note to self: look for said lizard/reptile online*
Ack. Hope everyone survives Monday! ^__^

Date: 2002-06-10 09:12 pm (UTC)From:And thank you for the link! I shall check it out, for sure! Going by the name it's more than just reptiles, so that's better than the other site I found. YAY!!! *hugs* I appreciate it!
thank you!
Thank you! That site matched the other site, but it's a huge site! Can't wait to explore it further, and maybe identify my snake I saw last week as well. I hope to see the lizards again, as they're adorable, but I'm just thankful to have seen them this once! :o)

Date: 2002-06-10 10:08 pm (UTC)From:that's really the only kind of lizards we have living in our neighborhood. we have the occasional gecko, but the western fence lizards hang around. i think they like they hot, dry conditions in the summer.
one summer, i was lucky enough to tame a female to a certain extent, and then she gave birth to the cutest baby. i named them lizzie and izzy. :)
izzy grew up and i was no longer able to tell him apart from the others in the backyard. they're fun to watch, especially when they catch sight of you watching. they just stare back, unless they feel threatened. :)

Date: 2002-06-11 06:33 am (UTC)From:This is the first year I've seen so much wildlife...usually you'll see deer on occasion and squirrels...and that's about it. Which, I'm happy to see them, for sure!! lol. But it is really nice to actually be seeing a variety of animals/reptiles. And I'm paying more attention to flowers and birds now too. Yay!
