Today was good. Broke my dog's heart, though, as he thought that the early start meant we were hiking. Poor guy. Will have to hope that Tuesday afternoon isn't hot, and I'll take them hiking on my half day.

We got over to our grandparents' place at 7, and then started on the siding. Ended up learning how to use the power screwdriver thing! Whooo! That was actually fun once I got the hang of it. Put on the corners on the front of the house, and then helped my uncle put up some pieces of plywood where the aluminum (or whatever) siding wasn't tall enough. Between all of us, we did get everything done except the very back part where the tongue is, they still need to make a plywood box to cover up that part. But, still, a fantastic amount of work was done today!

I even crawled up onto the roof with Trevor to do some taping and waterproofing of the seam between the porch and the roof. But, the tape didn't go far enough, so we had to climb up there twice. And, more importantly, DOWN TWICE. I'm totally okay with heights and looking around and such, but hate that vulnerability bit when you're trying to get on the ladder to climb down. Well, and to be honest, the bit where you're sort of hanging off the sides to trim the bit underneath the shingles wasn't all that great either. But, didn't really get too nervous either, just a bit...leery. lol.

We ended up taking a lunch break at noon or so, then a couple of people headed into town to get the tape and stuff for the box that still needs to be built. Then, the guys and my sis went up to rope, and Papa, Paden and I started a game of Aggravation. I LOVE THIS GAME! It's so much fun, even if it is totally frustrating at times. He ended up going up to the arena when they actually started roping, so Grandma stepped in until Mom and Trevor got back from town. Then we played until everyone came back down...people switched out, and then it was Papa and Me playing against Trevor and Paden, then she switched out for Mom....we finally stopped playing at 8:30. LOL. My word, but it was a blast. We laughed ourselves silly.

So. That was basically my weekend, but at least we had a lot of fun mixed in with the work. And their place looks great! I think there's basically that box left to do...though, maybe two vents still need to be put in. I forget.

We never did make it to the grocery store this weekend though, so have to do that on the way home from work tomorrow. Bah. So much fun! I'm ready to crash, though, so I'd best be off to bed or tomorrow really will suck. And I don't want that if at all possible! :o)

Sounds like a fulfilling task to build things with your own hands and to get to use power tools. Woot!

Did the dog get to come with you to hang out? Not as good as hiking, of course, but second best to being home alone.

Yes, it's nice to get to see immediate results like that! And having people who know what they're doing showing you what to do helps a lot. Though, some people are way more informative/explanatory than others. *G*

Ended up leaving Nate and Rocky (sis's dog) home. They'd have ended up having to hang out in the barn instead of being outside even, so it wasn't that big a difference. Because we were trying to get the siding up for the house, and didn't want the dogs running around underneath and ruining Saturday's work with the black plastic. I'm still hopeful for today, but it may get up to 90, so I don't know if it's happening. Depends on how muggy it is then, really.

Two dogs on the loose in a barn! Were there other animals in there too? I know my old Louie would have had a ball had she been there with another dog and cows and pigs and chooks and horses. She used to play with my horse as if she thought the horse was another dog.

Hope you get to enjoy the rest of the work and see it finished soon enough, the temperature permitting. I spent the afternoon again in my garden, getting it all done just before the rain, which was a good thing because it looks like the rain is here to stay for a while.

Yeah, my grandparents have three dogs alltogether. I normally take the two younger ones with me when I go hiking, cuz I just usually go up the hill behind their house. Gus has reached the point where I'm terribly afraid he'd have a heart attack up on the hill, and there's no possible way I could carry a 60 pound dog home! So, unfortunately, he has to stay home. They've got some horses and steers too, but they do not care to play with the dogs. *g*

Glad you were able to work in your garden! That's always fun. Well, most of the time. :o) Why is it that it always seems to rain the day that you were planning to mow the yard in the evening?? It's insane. lol. Thankfully the grass is growing so slowly that's not a problem right now, but in the height of summer it sure is.
