Our DVD player is scary. It randomly stops playing discs and just freezes on them. But not all the time, and never for any obvious reason. A few months ago we had rented Behind Enemy Lines and it froze on this one scene in it...took it back and exchanged it for another disc...froze in the exact same spot! Argh. Still haven't seen the end of that movie. But ever since then it's been acting up like that. Last night we watched Toy Story and it didn't freeze at all, but Mom just told me that it actually did freeze in the credits. Sheesh. I really hate to spend the money on another player, but this one's weird and irritating. >:(

one of my dvd players acts just like that. the other night, it wouldn't let me get the disc out. i thought it was stuck in there forever, lost to the DVD gods, but i managed to open it after awhile. it was our one and only dvd player, but i noticed it wasn't playing some discs, and then it started skipping, etc. it's an older model, so that may be the problem. we eventually had to buy a newer one because it was so unreliable.

one thing you might want to try, if you haven't already, is cleaning it. i think dvd/cd cleaners can be bought anywhere cds/dvds are sold. i got mine at wal-mart. you just pop it in every so often (after 10 hours of playing is recommended), let it clean and it helps. we were having skipping and freezing problems with our newer dvd player, and all it needed was a cleaning.

Thank you so much for the tip! I shall try that, because it's doing the random freezing. It's also done the occasional won't open the door, but we've been able to get it open so far! lol. But I'll have to go buy a disc cleaner this week so we can test it out. Hope it works! It's a new player, so it should!! Glad that you were able to get your disc out of your player! That would have been rotten to lose it like that!
