Wow, am I ever glad this is Tuesday. Even though I'll be babysitting late Wed night and all of Thursday morning, I'm still thankful to not have to go to work until Friday. hehe.

How is it you can have an author you really love, yet you buy a book of theirs months ago and completely forget you even have it? I was perusing my bookshelves this last weekend and discovered Jonathan Kellerman's A Cold Heart in my TBR stack. I've been devouring it since then - Alex Delaware is a really cool character, and I love his circle of friends. Must reread some of my older books though, as I did forget about Petra, the woman introduced in Billy Straight. Anyway, should finish it tonight!

I've gone and changed out a lot of icons, and now I don't know which one to use first. LOL. Oh, hey...Fathom! Aspen is just beautiful. I think I'll have to try to make my own Claymore icon, as I kind of doubt it's popular enough for anyone else to make them. *G*

Fathom!! Holy flashback, Batman. Now I want to go find my old issues. Hehehe..

I still haven't found a replacement for SIP when it's done. Not that there could ever be a replacement. But something to fill that void I know I'll feel..

Yeah, I know it! I'd forgotten how much I'd enjoyed that comic until I stumbled across the icon post. Interesting storyline and beautiful art. :o)

Totally hear you on SiP. It's so heartbreaking to see it end. All of my favorite comics actually are ending, and the DC ones we are still reading are going through a weird stage right now (some reboot type thing). Ugh. I've found a couple of manga titles that are serving up a lot of action and emotion, so I think that'll be my way to fill the void left when SiP ends. *hugs*

Have you tried any Faye Kellerman (his wife)? She writes about Pete and Rina Decker. He's a detective and she's his wife. Very, very good novels and I love the characters.

I would also recommend John Connolly - his main characters are Charlie Parker, a PI, and his friends - Angel and Louis, shady characters who help out when needed. Excellent characters all three. The dialogue between them is funny, touching and brilliant. Definitely worth reading.

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I haven't read any of Faye Kellerman's books, actually. They looked semi-interesting but I wasn't sure enough to pick them up, so maybe I'll give them a go on my next buying spree. Shall have to check out John Connolly as well. I love those mystery/thriller type of books. ^___^

What I find interesting about the Faye Kellerman books, apart from the mystery side of the story, is the fact that the main character's wife is an Orthodox Jew. It gives an insight into how his wife's religion impacts on his job as a police officer - the trouble he has in observing the Sabbath, such as not using electrical devices on the Sabbath, not working etc. Obviously, this is in the later books. He meets her in Ritual Bath and then their story is sort of a back story in the books that follow.

In John Connolly's books, the three main characters are great. You have Charlie Parker, he hears and see his dead wife and daughter, Louis - wealthy, well dressed, Jamaican hit man, gay - and his lover - Angel a scruffy, chubby ex-burglar. The interaction between the three has had me chuckling out loud at times. I've read all the books in the series but not in the order they were published. Would probably recommend trying them in the proper order as there is a slight overlap in some of the stories. Let me know what you think of them.

Fathom, Claymore...man I miss the good ol' days of Image comics. :)

I know, they had some fun stuff! My sister and I read a bunch of the WildC.A.T.S. and Cyber Force issues, and some of the Spawn issues. I still have one of the Angela action figures, she was awesome. *G*

Was Claymore an image title too? It's confusing when the same title crosses genres. The Claymore I like is a new manga title--it's about these women warriors who go around slaying monsters, but they've had to become half monster in order to do it. So far it's creepy and interesting. hehe.

Haha..cool.

Claymore was a member of Wetworks which was an image title about a special forces team who got recruited to hunt vampires.

Oh, very cool. I looked at that one a couple of times because it sounded interesting, but it's one we never got into. :o)
Hmmm, I send everyone I know e-mails touting my new LJ, and no one friends me. And I friended all of you. You . . . you . . . you hate me!!! ::cries:: Or, you don't hate me, but my journal is so horrifyingly bad you're ashamed to be associated with it. ::cries more::

Waaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Friended you today! Just happened to be a bad time this week for getting much accomplished online. *hugs* It certainly wasn't a reflection on you or your journal. ^__^

*sends you a plate of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies*

Aspen was the main character of Fathom, which was created by Michael Turner. Which Image titles did you read? The only other Image titles my sister and I collected were WildC.A.T.S. and Cyber Force, and a relatively few issues of Spawn.
I think Spawn and Wildstar were the only ones I read really religiously, oh, and Pitt, tho I tried out a whole bunch of others, including WILDCATS, Gen(some # in the teens that everyone was raving about but I thought was "eh") (not sure if that title is right), and ummm, the thing Claremont did for someone, what was the name of that and was it Image? Seemed sort of like an effort to make lightning strike twice, a "New X-Men" (remember way back when that started and it *was* the NEW X-men?) (damn, I'm dating myself, even if was a kiddie back then) w/different characters. Was that image?

I was more a vertigo/marvel/d.c. guy, on the whole, tho I did try not just image but some other company that a former marvel editor started, Jim Shooter I think (can't recall the name of the company, don't know what happened to it).
I think you're referring to Gen13, which we did collect for a while. I couldn't remember if it was an Image comic or not. If it was, then DangerGirl and Battle Chasers were probably also Image, and we collected them for a bit. BC was incredibly erratic in being published, and fizzled out, but it was a fabulous premise.

I'm not sure about the Claremont thing, as it's not ringing any bells for me. I do remember the "new x-men", though I think we collected back issues to get caught up on that one. We started reading the x-titles when the Jim Lee one came out, and we got a LOT of back issues after that. I loved the storyline for x-force, but the art wasn't to my taste at all for a looong time. heh. I also got a few issues of Madman, because it was quirky and fun, and the artist was actually a local guy.

We used to be x-titles and some Image titles, but we ended up dropping all the x-titles after the whole fiasco of...(Unbelievable. I can't remember the bad guy's name. Oblivion? The one where he's practically impossible to beat and it turns out it was Xavier? Something along those lines. The new glossy x-title had just come out too.)

After that I was collecting Steam Punk (my sister thought it was way too confusing & didn't read it at all) and we both were collecting Strangers in Paradise and some of the batman titles (mostly Nightwing, Birds of Prey, Batgirl, and now Robin). Now Steam Punk has ended, SiP is ending, Batgirl ended, the one that focused on the detectives ended, and the One Year Later reboot has almost put us off the bat titles. O.o
