These are from the weekend's haul of BPAL. *happy dancing*
Lab frimps: Envy, Baneberry, Masquerade, Undertow, #20 Love Oil, Mantis, Madrid and Ophelia. Whoo! (Four 10 mL bottles ordered)
Undertow - The Dark Side of Water: clean and purifying, yet menacing -- lotus and juniper with a hint of mint. A scent dragged up from the depths to the Stygian shore. Oh, mint!! This starts out all mint (& possibly juniper), then turns into a rather murky oceanic scent. Quite lovely. The mint doesn't seem to last long at all, but this is still a very intruiging scent. (10 min later: uh-oh. Mint appears to behave like carnation on me, and is starting to disappear/turn hollow) Gone, so gone. :(
Baneberry - A poisonous fruit-bearing member of the buttercup family. The scent, like the plant, is dark green, herbal, and plump with bulging black fruit. Absolutely gorgeous! Sweet and fruity. This is beautiful. I get more floral/fruit from it than herbs, at least in these beginning stages. Edit: Not quite as robust the second time I tried it. Hmm.
Masquerade - A festive, dazzling blend, layered in mystery and intrigue. Patchouli, ambergris, carnation and orange blossom. First reaction in the imp: Ewww! Tried it on anyway, and it is still incredibly bitter and off putting. After five minutes it's become more of a 'not really my thing" type of scent--I think the other scents have now mellowed out and the patchouli is left. No longer quite as bitter and pungent, but still, this one's going away. ;D (Edit: Still fairly strong over night!)
Mantis - Crushed herbs and sweet amber resin with a streak of patchouli, neroli and golden musk. Ahh, much nicer. Sweet patchouli. However, it's incredibly mellow and light on me.
#20 Love Oil - A potent, enticing love formula, favored among Louisiana courtesans. Yikes, this one is very sour on me. Don't care for it at all.
Ophelia - Wistful and vulnerable: lotus, water blossom ivy, stargazer lily and white rose. This one started out so pretty!! Could smell the bright lily and rose, with a tiny touch of aquatic. However, after 10 minutes that's all gone and all that's left is pond scum. Icky on me. :(
Madrid - Swarthy and vibrant! An elegant, full-bodied scent that ignites all the darkest passions. Bold red wine, mimosa, and a trickle of clove. Imp: All wine & scary. On skin, the wine is still foremost, but the clove deepens it nicely. After 10 minutes, this one is actually quite pretty. The best out of the three this morning, that's for sure! Not a keeper though.

Date: 2006-09-07 03:33 am (UTC)From:Ummm, they said last year that we could bring them back and refill, but I'm not sure I'm gonna take mine.
Just in case they aren't there, I don't wanna pack it around either. Heh

Date: 2006-09-08 03:42 am (UTC)From:Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards too. Though I am thinking of taking the camera for the jousting. Are we taking mom's car? Maybe I'll just take it and leave it in the trunk until we know what's up.
Uhm, who knows. It's still a day away. *G*
