Management royally sucks sometimes. I say that about work, and now I say it about LJ. I'm sure most everyone has already heard about the deleted journals drama, but if not here's one link:

This is actually the third or fourth post on the matter, and she links to the earlier ones on there as well. She also links to the latest news article, the requests for an LJ statement start on page 6 and currently are up to page 23 or 24.

What's crazy is that I do think getting rid of actual pedophile communites is a decent thing, but they didn't carry it out well at all. Far too many non-criminal people and journals have been affected, and who's to say that the next purge will actually target criminal actions. Or who defines those criminal actions. If they really did delete all those journals based on an interest search, that's just way too vague. There's lots of interests that have at least a double meaning, and if they managed to delete an abuse-survivor community or individual, then they obviously aren't looking for context. It's appalling and disturbing.

God. Oh, OOPS. Watch out, the anti-religious people will be calling next.

Edit: haha! The Killers are on the radio. Whatever their new one is, but it does seem like funny timing. :)

A friend from school pointed this out yesterday in her journal, and I have a lot of sexual interests listed ... none of which are related to incest or rape, but who is to say that these fanatics aren't going to try to get those journals deleted, too? Ooo I'm not married and have a fabulous sex life, I'm an immoral whore who needs to be saved! Fucking bite me!!!

I refuse to remove those interests but if my journal gets suspended or deleted I will blow a fucking gasket.

In a post I read on the issue there was a community deleted or suspended because they had lolita in their name and interests--well, it was a community for discussing Nabokov's Lolita, a fucking novel! A work of fiction! This is ridiculous. I have a basic account but I'm about read to head over to another blog site.

I hear you about being ready to move. I absolutely hate the thought of moving - I've enjoyed LJ and like how it's set up, but I created a greatest journal account just in case this continues to not be resolved. They've made some poor decisions in the last year or so, and continue making the same basic error (do something major rash and then try to fix it after the fact).

My first reaction? WTF!!??!!
What an extreme over reaction - and what about TOS stating that there will be steps taken before the final decision being to delete a journal/comm?
Apparently it doesn't apply anymore.

Above all that warrior whatever website is not only scary (as the LJ result atest too) but STUPID! Announcing how you're going to get things deleted and all that - way to warn the actual criminals.

'Cause if I was a criminal? I'd be keeping track of such sites to stay ahead of 'em, if they're going to be foolish enough to telegraph their moves.
