Creepy and fascinating!
I actually saw this article this morning with my coworker and was fairly creeped out, but by the time she read the article I was feeling much more warm towards the giiiiiaaaannnnt bug. It's cricket-like, but absolutely huge.
If you'd like to see and read about the Weta Bug, here's the link! :o)

Dog Info
Interesting article from Dogster, on the benefits of cinnamon for your dog! I love cinnamon myself, and Nate definitely likes the little liver flavored powder that I got to make his dry food more "interesting." So I'll likely give this a try for him. :o)

You know the story about the lion and the mouse? Well here's a real life version with a leopard and young rat! Gorgeous pictures and a really unusual story!
Thanks
triggerhappy for sharing! Awesome. ^__^

Weres, etc
Totally cool site - they have werewolves, wereleopards, werehorses and so on. The winged and horned sections have a variety of were-species. Anyway, didn't have a chance to peruse all of them but the ones I did were pretty interesting!

Yesterday's Kentucky Derby was fantastic to watch! We actually were all rooting for Street Sense, even though it seems fairly rare that your favorite actually wins. *G* We enjoyed the story of his trainer (the first Derby he won, with Unbridled I believe, was for that 92 year old lady and it was just such a cool win!) and liked the look of Street Sense. So it was absolutely wonderful to see him win, especially seeing how he manuevered from 19th to first and made it look pretty darn easy. *happy dancing*

A few more photos here. Street Sense, Hard Spun and pony horse Chopper are the only equines pictured.
Otherwise, it's been a good weekend so far. We picked up some burgandy lamb tips at Trader Joe's last night and had them for dinner, along with mashed potatoes with goat cheese. Mmmm. It was all delicious! Today I got to ride Jeffrey a bit early in the morning, then used Mom's new camcorder to tape the first two rounds. It's a neat little camera! Hopefully I did okay with the recording. lol. Poor Nate was super sore this morning, but it was kind of nice for him not to be caterwauling all morning with excitement. ^___^

Giant Fish!

Well, giant and ancient! They say it's 90 years old or older. Wow!
(My bettas would be flabbergasted! They average a lifespan of 2-3 years, so that's a huge difference. lol.)

hehe. I think that I have a chicadee and a tiny goldfinch trying to get the nerve up to try out the new birdfeeder. YAY!!! I heard this chirping noise out my window, and saw this tiny bird - at first I thought it was a hummingbird, but it didn't move or buzz like a hummingbird. It looks like a pale gold (the sun is behind it so I can't see super well), so I'm guessing it's just a small goldfinch. Anyway, that's cool they're finding the new feeder!

I've always meant to look at the can art and keep forgetting. They don't have that much up in their gallery, but their "permanent" gallery is kind of cool.

Absolutely adorable! My computer played it a little slow, but it was worth it. The duckling appears to be feeding the koi! Though, one of the commenters said he was probably just wetting the food to make it easier to eat...still, it's adorable! ^___^

Calligraphy
http://www.letteringelegance.com/
My best friend just launched a new website for her calligraphy services. Granted, she is my best friend and I'm highly biased, but I think her work is just beautiful! The gallery section has many samples - please feel free to check it out. I LOVE her peacock work! This friesian calligram is a piece that she did for me, and I think it's fabulous. ^___^
Anyway, just had to share her new site. Her work has always been lovely, but the new layout and photography is just stunning and really shows it all off.

OMG, it's been a long week. My computer went nuts on me this afternoon, but thankfully the computer guy was in the building installing new computers in the exam rooms and he got it fixed in short order. Yay. Because otherwise the last two hours of the day would have royally sucked!

YouTube runs kind of slow on my computer so I didn't have the patience for the other videos she linked to, but I believe this is the first take of Weird Al and Donny Osmond dancing to 'White & Nerdy' - it's green screen and everything. Anyway, it's awesome! Great fun! Plus, I find it amazing that Donny Osmond appears to be a bit like Dick Clark in the never-noticeably-ageing department. lol.
I feel as if I could fall asleep right now, and it is far too early to be thinking about sleep! So tired. My goal is to go for a walk with Nate in the morning, and then do some errands before going out to the ranch around noon. It hasn't worked out lately, but I'm not feeling sick at the moment and the weather should hopefully hold out so there will be no excuse for not walking in the morning. *nods*

Overload of Cuteness
http://www.cuteoverload.com/
They've got some super cute photos up this time! The first two are kitties, then a snooty pug, and then down the page there's a squirrel eye-deep in snow! Somedays you just need a LOT of cute to make up for the general "ugh"ness of the rest of the day, and this worked fabulously. :D
btw, I just found out that Safeway makes some of the BEST mashed potatoes EVER. Mmm, mmm. Well, that's not homemade, you know. Though, these are WAY easier so that is a huge bonus. Creamy and delicious, and only takes 4 minutes to heat up. We have a winner!

The weekends are far too short. This has been a good one, but I've hardly been home and now it's almost 9 pm. Ack.
Found a hilarious parody site courtesy of
gravie. This and many more cracked me up.

That closet door in your bedroom leads to the gates of Hell. Don't go there.

CSI
Ok, apparently I live under a rock. I'm playing catchup in the csi community, and found this link about Nick's Rage Diary. Some of it is pretty darn funny. Some of it's not, but whatever. It was good for a laugh this morning. ^___^

OMG!

*breathless* BPAL just released a selection of oils based on Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Anansi Boys. Fabulous!! I haven't had much luck with spicy scents, but I may have to try Mama-Ji. It sounds wonderful. Oh, why are they releasing so many fabulous scents right now? They don't have an end date listed for these, so hopefully they'll stick around for a while.
I've been incredibly laid back today. OH GOD. I have to go run to the post office. Be back later!
